Once one of our country’s most prominent 18th century seaports, Newburyport is a fascinating city to visit today. From the simple elegance of first period homes to the grandeur of the Federal, to Greek Revival and Victorian - the scope of our architectural heritage is unparalleled.

Our downtown restoration has been called the finest example of Federal style architecture in the country. We are located in the heart of downtown Newburyport, amidst a sophisticated blend of galleries, restaurants, B & B’s and upscale boutiques.

Pristine, protected natural environments surround our community. Plum Island, one of the longest barrier-reef islands on the east coast, is home to The Parker River National Wildlife Refuge, a sanctuary of almost 5000 square acres protecting over 800 species of birds, plants and animals. Maudslay State Park offers almost 500 acres of 19th century gardens, meadows, pine forests and mountain laurel. Waterfront Park, the site for summer evening concerts, abuts our busy boardwalk and harbor on the Merrimac River.
